Welcome Autumn

Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness (John Keats)

I'm so excited to be sharing this first newsletter with you and hopefully it is the beginnings of a more regular, monthly one!

The warm, dry introduction to Autumn has been very welcome and so its been a busy time for me, gathering and foraging from our little orchard and the surrounding hedgerows and also preparing my bees for Winter. There is something so satisfying about making your own jams, chutneys and alcoholic tipples. Anything you make yourself will always taste the best...well usually...

I love each of our seasonal shifts and all the nature changes that they bring. Autumn always seems to me more like a new year than January even. Perhaps its because of our long school summer holidays in NI but September arrives to me as a time for a chance to evaluate and refresh...

So... I've been working on adding a new soy candle collection to my range and at last, I am delighted to say that the packaging is now finally in the hands of the printers!

It is a range of 5 soy candles, poured into a simple translucent white glass jars. The theme of the range is based upon our simple countryside living and includes names such as country lanes, hedgerows, orchard, my honeybees, wildflowers, walks in the woods, oakmoss and winter spice. Its been a lovely project to work on and I can't wait to share it with you very soon!

I have made a few other product changes too, such as a lovely updated fresh new logo and an addition to my handcream range which will very soon be available in Lavender and Patchouli.

If you are local you may already know that I am one of the resident makers in the wonderful Makers Market NI. Our next Fair will be held again at the National Trust Belmont Tower on the Belmont Road in Belfast.

We have another amazing line up of lovely talented makers and artists joining us so please do come along if you can.

Its on Sat 27th October 10-3

Hope to see you there!

Another exciting new beginning for me has been the launch of seasonally themed workshops! This is a brand-new venture for me and something that I have been thinking about and planning for a while. Back in May I gave a workshop to my first ever paying customers who left a lovely review on my FB page which you can read here. They will be held here in my studio and home here in Killinchy and are suitable for any skill level - a relaxing a replenishing opportunity to try something different.

The December event is a perfect start to the festive season and I will definitely have the fairy lights out! The March event is more Spring like and would make an especially lovely Christmas or Mother’s Day gift.

I would like to offer you, my special subscriber people the chance to book at either event before I advertise them elsewhere on Saturday the 13th Oct. There are only 6 places on each, so if you are keen, please be quick. See the web link for further details and booking…

Lastly, I am planning on phasing out my currently stock range of candle tins so while they are still available, please accept this little seasonal comforter - a 15% discount, valid until Sat 13th. Just use the code loveautumn at the checkout.

If you are on facebook or instagram you can find me there...Do drop in and say hello!

I hope you have a lovely week,

Gwen x
